How to use Word to PDF

  1. Drop a .docx file (up to 25 MB). Older .doc files aren't supported — save as .docx in Word first.
  2. Pick page size (US Letter default, or A4 for international / Legal for contracts), orientation (portrait / landscape), and margins.
  3. Click Convert to PDF. Text, headings, paragraphs, lists and basic tables are rendered to PDF.
  4. Download the PDF. Ready for email attachment, printing, or archiving.

Common use cases

  • Sending a formal document. PDFs preserve formatting across devices. Convert cover letters, offer letters, contracts, and reports to PDF before sending.
  • Printing. PDFs print consistently. If you email a .docx to a print shop, they may see different fonts or spacing — a PDF prints as it looks on your screen.
  • Archiving. Store documents as PDF/A-friendly PDFs — the format is stable and readable decades from now.
  • Regulatory submission. IRS, USPTO, SSA, and school portals typically require PDF (not Word). Convert before uploading.
  • Cross-platform sharing. Recipients on iPhones, Chromebooks, and older systems may not have Word. PDF displays consistently everywhere.

Tips

  • Choose US Letter for US contexts, A4 for international. Legal for contracts is required in some US jurisdictions.
  • Narrow margins fit more content per page — great for saving paper. Wide margins give more room for notes.
  • Landscape orientation is best for wide tables or presentations.
  • For best fidelity, use standard Word styles (Heading 1, Body, etc.) in your source .docx — the converter maps these cleanly.
  • Complex Word layouts (text boxes, floating images, columns) may reflow. For pixel-perfect PDFs, use Microsoft Word's built-in Save As PDF.

Troubleshooting

Text ran off the page.
Try Narrow margins, or a larger page size (Legal instead of Letter). If your Word doc has wide tables, try Landscape orientation.
Formatting is different from Word.
Client-side conversion focuses on content fidelity, not pixel-perfect layout. For 100% Word-matching output, use Word's built-in Save As PDF (File → Save As → PDF).
Images are missing.
Embedded images inside Word (drawings, WordArt) may not carry over. Convert those to regular images in Word first, or use the Image to PDF tool for standalone images.

Does it support .doc (old Word format)?
No — only modern .docx. If you have a .doc file, open it in Word (or LibreOffice / Google Docs) and Save As .docx first.
What about tables and images?
Simple tables and inline images are preserved. Complex tables (merged cells, nested), text boxes, and floating images may reflow.
Max file size?
25 MB. That's a browser memory limit — larger .docx files may crash the tab.
Can I select specific pages?
Not in this version — the whole document converts. For selective conversion, edit your .docx first to include only what you need.
